Horn Speakers
Horn loaded speakers are a compromise between sound pressure and sound quality. The desired action of the horn is an increment of the sound pressure level; the unwanted reaction resides in the reactance of the horn that can be heard clearly. Depending especially on the physical dimension of the horn itself the unwanted reaction can be mathematically predicted and scientifically measured. Lange Loudspeakers horn loaded loudspeakers contain all the known technology that can mask in a high percentage the reactance of the horns.
The H718 consists of a hyperbolic horn coupled to a high power 18" ND driver with 4 inch voice coil. The back side of the driver charged with a closed box that acts like a spring reducing the excursion of the diaphragm and contributes to the overall output the system can achieve. This single 18 " renowned Horn design is an evolution of a highly appreciated loading technique developed back in 1993 by Lange H. Andreas.
The H718 integrates a 1,5 metres long Hyperbolic horn with a mouth area of 3750 cm2 allowing optimum coupling to the air. The cabinet delivers the maximum possible performance of the driver used conserving a remarkable compactness for a highly flexible application requiring less transport costs.
Extensive FEA analysis on the 18"ND driver enabled the discovering of a super - efficient cooling technique. For this reason the Horn is rated 1000 watts continuous with a rigorous 100 hours test in free air according to I.E.C. 268-5 at minimum impedance.
Internal bracing give the cabinet the robustness needed for years of dependable service on the road. Assembled with the highest quality 18mm (36mm) Finnish Birch the cabined is precisely assembled, glued and pressed together for maximum strength. Black spattered textured finish further improve the robustness of the cabinet during the day after day, year after year service.
